If you have a guitar and wish to really improve your playing, I'm sure you'll discover what you're going to read quite helpful. The following are a few tips on guitar to help improve your guitar playing.
In the case that you don't have a guitar or if you're looking to get a new one, don't go for that somewhat super cheap guitar with an average tone. As they don't play the best, it's hard to move beyond the beginner's level and they don't usually last too long. You should buy a guitar that is easy on the fingers, like a classical, nylon string guitar and feels good when you hold it.
Learning how to read tablature can be a huge help if you're not that ok at reading music so no need to worry there. Learning to understand tablature is fairly simple and you'll be able to learn to perform nearly any song once you master it.
While learning how to strum a guitar try not to just strum it by moving your wrist, you should move the elbow in order to help improve your strumming. Your wrists should only move a little bit while most of the movement when strumming should come from your elbow. Your should try to keep your strumming arm in motion most of the time, even if you're not strumming the strings as this will help you maintain better time when you strum a guitar.You should also understand that the best area for your hand when strumming the guitar would be as close to the bridge of the guitar as possible, so that if required, your palm could rest on the bridge of the guitar.
Another of our guitar playing tips is to focus on improving a specific technique one at a time. Your main focus to start with should be to learn and master the fundamentals like hammer-ons, pull-offs, vibratos and bends when learning a solo, don't try to do it all to start with. Attempt to learn all of these techniques to begin with using the A minor pentatonic scale in the 5th fret box position, the fret spacing and string tension here make it the best.
Learning scales will test you and make your guitar playing better so make sure you study and know them. It provides you a new yardstick or a reference point to calculate your improvement, you will discover that your speed, clarity of notes, understanding of the fret board, and dexterity gradually improves. Understanding how scales are just repeatable patterns is the secret to learning them, as well as thinking about the note names when you run through the scales and practice them consistently.
Get your mates to come and play with you, this will not only loosen you up a little but you'll gain more quick skills from each other, learn a few new pieces of music, and understand how to jam by performing with other people.
